On my way to meet my good friend, Gold Elite Angela M for lunch, I had a urgent DM. I don't like walking around with my face in my phone, so I ducked into this Starbucks.

Whoa! I was taken back a bit. A huge space and wait, it's a full bar too?  I grabbed a $4 bottle of water and found a nice spot to do my iPhone thing.

The restrooms are unisex and unique! Separate private commode (3). Now, a communal sink setup (3) with of course, hand-activated soap, water, and air-dryer. What? I'm looking around for something to dry my hands. It's built into the facet!

I'm not much of drinker, however I do like the idea I can have a coffee with others that partake in libations. Not much of an evening place. They close like 7:30 or 8:00pm.

My friend, who is located nearby, told me it's a very popular spot for her colleagues during the workday. I bet. With free internet and comfy areas to work, I'll add this place to my list of workplaces!

Usually busy and I get what I need. I can't buy the same coffee every day and have the same consistent cup of coffee, let's say for 5 days in a row, so I only go once and awhile.

Today it was particularly bad. The manager was terribly rude after having to ring me up different 3 times and almost 10 min to order my coffee. It was clear to me there lack of training and they were super rude about it like that was my fault.

barista at the R bar handed my drink over the bar. No lid. Hot coffee filled to the top. 160 degrees...

I ask for a lid and he says he can't hand me one. Some legal thing?? Idk.. I thought people sued for handling hot coffee. I handed it back and asked him to set it next to the lids, I couldn't see. Which was more than 10 steps away. He was stunned and acted offended. I didn't know what to do with that.

No thank you, no I'm sorry, and we'll do better next time.

Just about the most snobbest, rudest and untrained Starbucks I've ever been in...

After that customer service, it just left a bad taste in my mouth and wondering why I didn't go to Philz.

I was in the area and decided to stop by this Starbucks Reserve location for some coffee. I've been wanting to check out this store after hearing about it. The store is large, sleek and modern with use of dark wood in its décor and it's floor to ceiling windows brings in a lot of natural light. There are ample seating consisting of chairs, bar tables, bar tables with seating for 2 or 4 and seating at the coffee counter.

You can order off their Classics menu, which are offerings that you get at your regular Starbucks or from the Reserve menu, which uses the rarest coffees roasted daily at their roastery.  You can get your brewed coffee made with the Clover or Pour-over.  Other offerings include espressos, draft cold brew and Nitro, coffee and ice cream.  You can even sample their reserve coffees with their coffee flight offering.

This was the best Starbucks that I've been too.  The Reserve designation and offerings plus the great customer service elevates it to another level.  I know which Starbucks I will be visiting when I'm in the area.

Disclaimer: I don't like Starbucks. I find their lack of leadership in plastic waste a travesty. The espresso quality is generally so so, at best.  Additionally, their CEO is a tool.

Now, why the 5?  This place is different. Tons of for-here cutlery and cups. The reserve espresso was excellent. Pricey, but just what I was looking for. If Starbucks converted all of their shops to this style (or at least offer glass cups for us tree huggers), I might give them my business. Until then, this type of visit will continue to be a rare one. More of this please!

Bringing the kind of excellence and service that made Starbucks a household name!

Pro-tip: The entire usual store menu at regular prices, plus ample seating for meetings (poet and didn't even know it), as well as walking distance from Millennium tower (where I ran into my boy KD)!
